Manage a virtual forest and its ecosystem in ‘Virtual Forest’, a simple, exciting, fun game created by Canfor. Players take on the role of a forest manager and their efforts to run a forest, while simultaneously protecting both the forest’s ecosystem as well as the economy. As you play the game, you will be given 3 indicators: Budget, Jobs-Economy, and Bio-diversity. Your goal is to try and keep all three at their highest/optimal level.

You earn money by harvesting the forest, and providing employment opportunities for the community. You spend money by conducting site management (applying fertilizer and herbicides to the forest); engaging in reforestation; managing fires; controlling wildlife, and constructing buildings for recreation, such as lodges and campgrounds. There are 3 methods of earning money from harvesting: thinning; whole-tree harvest; and, stem-only harvest.

You will also earn money from allowing hunting, and recreation. In the reforestation section you can choose to plant either, Douglas Fir, Lodgepole Pine, or Aspen by seed or seedlings, in low or high-density strands.
